Community Shoe Distribution Event Will Impact 500 Elementary School Students

4/6/2017

April 6, 2017 (SUMTER, S.C.)
– The YMCA of Sumter Togetherhood Committee and Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated have partnered with Samaritan’s Feet, W. Lee Flowers Group, JO’s Grady’s, Palmetto Oyster House, Rabon’s Sav-On, and Persimmon Hill to provide new socks and shoes for 500 elementary school students.  The shoe distribution event will also feature ice-cold Coca-Cola beverages and interactive games.

“Coca-Cola Consolidated is so grateful to partner with the Sumter community for this event,” said Kevin Gadsden, Senior Manager of Field Stewardship for Coca-Cola Consolidated. “It’s awe-inspiring to see local businesses and nonprofit organizations come together to give away hundreds of pairs of new socks and shoes to elementary school students in need.”

The event will take place at the YMCA of Sumter at 510 Miller Road in Sumter, S.C. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event provides a unique way for students to start their spring break in the Sumter community, with the opportunity to be blessed by Samaritan’s Feet and business ambassadors who want to create a lasting memory for each person served at the shoe distribution.

Approximately 500 pre-registered students will receive a new pair of shoes and socks, have their feet washed by community volunteers, and receive a word of encouragement during the process.
